Our Story

Busted Sun began as a creative collaboration between Paul Barsom and Russ Still, two seasoned musicians with a shared love for authentic songwriting and storytelling. But their story starts in 1975 in Montgomery AL where they formed a band, Shaky Kid, with Boo Edmondson and Wes Sullivan playing skating rinks and private parties. In 1978 the two reconnected in Mobile, AL in the band White Light, playing bars and one nighters all over the Southeast. Drawing from years of friendship and musical exploration, their project captures the essence of Americana through heartfelt lyrics and organic instrumentation.

Paul Barsom

Songwriter / Singer / Multi-Instrumentalist

Paul Barsom is a singer and guitarist performing his original compositions and classic songs by legendary artists from
the 1950s to now.  His eclectic songwriting is influenced by literally all the music he’s ever heard, but especially classic and progressive rock and pop, folk, classical and world music from across the globe.  Paul began musical career as a rock bassist but spent most of his professional life composing for orchestra and other classical media and teaching others how to make music.  He left his teaching career in 2019 to write, perform, and produce his own songs. 
His most recent project, The Weed Garden, can be heard on all streaming platforms.

Russ Still

Songwriter / Singer / Multi-Instrumentalist

Russ Still is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Alabama but making Georgia home for the past 40 years. Russ has 7 original albums and many singles released as Russ Still and The Moonshiners and as Russ Still. His music has been defined as “Blending influences of country twang, southern rock n’ roll, and Americana folk, creating a sound all his own”. (Sharp Turn Records).
